Reliable Access to the Workforce

The greatest barrier to employment that disabled individuals face is reliable transportation. Because of this and other social problems, disabled individuals are 150% more likely to live below the poverty level. In 2022, the poverty rate for individuals with disabilities was 24.9%, compared to 11.5% for people without disabilities.

Bridge to Mobility is the only organization that focuses on overcoming the transportation barrier by offering last-dollar funding grants for WAVs (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles). By donating, you’re directly impacting these issues by helping wheelchair-bound individuals and their families access the job market. With employment comes a sustainable, stable income, which in turn can drastically improve their quality of life.

Bridge to Mobility awarded the critical $5,000 last dollar funding grant to help put Adam back on the road so he could return to work. “I’ve never seen a grant move that fast,” says Adam. Listen to what else he has to say about the quick turnaround of a grant that helped him purchase a WAV and access the world again.
