Celebrating Our First Year

Nov 18, 2024

Dear Bridge to Mobility Supporter,

I am proud to share the results of our first year of operations at Bridge to Mobility. More importantly, your impact. Our trident strategy of mobilizing the entire Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) industry, building mission aligned partners who can magnify our grants, and utilizing technology to run an efficient and scalable foundation have proven highly effective.

With your early confidence in our mission and financial support, Bridge to Mobility awarded 104 WAV grants. Bridge to Mobility is now the #1 organization in the USA and Canada as it relates to annual grants awarded for WAVs. Our grant awards of $490,808 were amplified by another $609,428 from our mission aligned partners. In addition, we supplemented public assistance and private fundraising efforts totaling $1.6 million.

Graph of money allocation

Bridge to Mobility awards of $490K represented 17% of the total assistance enabling 104 people to buy a WAV. Your donations have been put to work and have had an immediate and tangible impact.

Of the 2+ million individuals in wheelchairs, only 4% have access to a private vehicle. The remaining 96% rely on public accessible transportation — where and if available — and 45% of the population has no public wheelchair accessible transportation option. Bridge to Mobility is changing this statistic one grant award at a time.

Year 1 Highlights:

  • On October 24, Bridge to Mobility received the distinguished HELP award at the Help Hope Live annual gala in Philadelphia. Help Hope Live is a charitable organization that has raised and awarded more than $188 million for medical-related expenses over four decades.

  • Our Board of Directors expanded this spring with the addition of General Robert Neller, 37th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps. General Neller has successfully raised awareness of Bridge to Mobility with active military and veterans alike. Watch General Neller talk about how donating a small amount of money can make a huge difference.
  • Sustainable Funding:
    •  Bridge to Mobility is the recipient of payroll deduction plans with the two of the largest companies in the WAV industry: Braun and MobilityWorks.

    • 20+ NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association) dealer locations are now contributing $50 for every WAV sold.

    • AMF Bruns, America is donating a new restraint system for every vehicle awarded ($500 value per vehicle).

  • Bridge to Mobility launched a coordinated social media effort to share our stories and impact. We invite you to follow Bridge to Mobility on FacebookInstagram, and LinkedInWatch Allison’s testimonial on YouTube
  • Bridge to Mobility grants were awarded across the USA and Canada. Grant recipients include active military, veterans, students, athletes, caregivers, and seniors. Behind each grant is a compelling story and a brave individual(s) who are anxious to live their life and move forward — improving education, employment, and medical outcomes and increasing family and community engagement — outside of their home.

Approved Grants Across North America

In closing, on behalf of Bridge to Mobility, I cannot thank you enough for your support and confidence in our mission. You are making a difference and I encourage you to visit our YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/@BridgetoMobility to see firsthand some of the people you have helped. Their stories are inspiring and uplifting.

Our 2025 goal is to award 200 grants; we are committed to raising $1 million. I am asking for your continued support to reach this goal.

Thank you in advance,

Marilyn R. Clark, Chairperson
